Joseph Mangano

Family Tribute:Joe was a hard-working, dedicated man. He loved his family: son Michael, who is on the road to a second career as a respiratory therapist, and his daughter Lisa, a special education teacher. They were the loves of his life and a source of great joy to him.

He was married for 33 years to his wife Kathy. He had many friends and family members. His life was rich in love and his smiling face and kind heart will be missed by many.

When I must leave you for a little while please

do not grieve and shed wild tears and hug your

sorrow to you through the years but start out

bravely with a gallant smile; and for my sake

and in my name live on and do all things the

same, feed not your loneliness on empty days,

but fill each waking hour in useful ways, reach

out your hand in comfort and in cheer and I in

turn will comfort you and hold you near; and

never, never be afraid to die. For I am waiting

for you in the sky!

Great Friend and Colleague. YES JOE! You were an average person. Yet different to many. You were more than that! You helped revive more lives during your short visit on earth then most do in a full entire lifetime. God placed those like yourself on the face of the earth for the rest of us to resemble. I will never forget! Those who loved and knew you, I'm sure will never forget. A true friend and mentor. One of the most real individuals I've ever had the privilege of knowing.

Just wanted to let Joseph's family know that we had Joseph's name on our car for our 9/11 procession tribute yesterday. We had a procession of about 20 cars from John Wayne Airport, Newport Beach CA to Los Angeles Aiport and back. We didn't know you Joseph but we wanted to pay tribute to you and all those who died needlessly on 9/11 9 years ago. You will never be forgotten. It's been 9 years since Joe's Passing, and that of 39 other people I worked with. The Older I get, the more I think of Joe and all the others that left us on that Clear Blue Morning. There is NOT a day goes by that I think of him at least once. I just want to say that Joe will always be in my mind and prayers.

I have come to this site so many times in the past year. I wanted to add my words to all the others I have read here, but each time all my memories of Joe flood my heart and mind and the words just wouldn't come. Joe has been a part of my family for 35 years. When I think of Joe ( which is often) I remember his face on his wedding day and the look of joy at the birth of his two children. The joy he took in the fact that it was just a nice day.I don't know if I ever told him just how much he meant to me and my family , but I believe he knew. I will always remember the wonderful times we had together. Joe's sister in law Val

I worked with Joe for about 2 years in the early 90's. My impression of him, was of a very intelligent, caring family man. Even though we were not close, other than a working relationship, I always will have fond memories of him when, I asked him silly questions, he was always willing to help me. I will never forget him and I will always say a prayer for him and his family.

I would like to personally thank all of you for your warm words of condolences for my brother Joe. It is only recently that I can go on line and read the many kind words from all who knew him. He is sadly missed by so many. My comfort comes from knowing that he is fishing up above with St. Peter, the greatest fisherman of all. I love you, Joe - your sister, Rosemarie

Joe was the nicest person I have ever known. I can not describe how his lost could affect so many. He was so special to family, adopted family and friends alike. I consider myself so fortunate for having him as my friend. I will always miss him.

I worked with Joe for over 15 years. Joe technically interviewed me before my hire back in 1986. Over the years we built up a friendly and trusting relationship. You could discuss private issues with Joe and be assured confidentiality. Joe was an awesome fisherman and even better at making picks in the annual football pool. I recall a year or two ago where Joe and I won the pool 7 out of the 17 weeks. Or the time he invited us to stay overnight at his place in the Pocono's before a day of Skirmish paint ball fights. And I repaid him by shooting him 30 seconds into the first skirmish battle. Laughing and saying 'thanks for letting us stay over last night Joe'. He just smiled and smirked as he walked off the field. Joe was a great person and I think about him often. He will remain in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten.

I know that God had his hand in my being able to see Joe again last summer after almost 40 years. His smile was just as warm & infectious as it was all those years ago. Such a caring man! Anita & I were indeed blessed to have been able to spend that time with him. He truly loved his family & spoke with deep pride about them. When we left him, it was with the anticipation that we would indeed see him again this summer & with the hope of meeting Kathy. However, 21 days later his loving family, friends, & collegues lost this kind man to a horrid tragedy! I know that God raised him up on angel wings that day & he is indeed in Heaven. My prayers for Joe & his family continue! Bless You Joe!

I feel fortunate and blessed that Carol and I were able to meet with Joe last summer after 40 years. He was always with a smile and spoke lovingly of his family. We anticipated meeting again with him this summer to reminisce about old times, but 9/11 tragedy took that away from us.I know he is with God because that's where all good people are. God bless you Joe.

I have known Joe for most of my life. He was my brother in-law, father figure, and friend. He was there for all the important events in my life. I was six years old when my sister brought him home to meet our family. He was a very important part of our family and we are so sad and lost without him. When I think of Joe I try to think of all the fun we had and all the moments in our life that mattered. I miss him every day. Denise Thompson, 5/15/02

Joe, jingling Joe, jingling the change in his pocket, bouncing down the halls of work in Princeton before going to NY. Always had a smile on his face, always. Will remember Joe as the sweet, dear, kind man he was to everyone all the time. How lucky I am to have known him and will never forget his kindness all the time. The world is a better place because of him.
