Jennifer Lynn Kane
Family Tribute:Jen was a beautiful young woman whose work as a certified public accountant took her to amazing heights, a very close and loving daughter and sister who traveled the world on business but always found time to visit with her family. She was very traditional, family-oriented, sincere, gentle, and touched everyone deeply.
Jen grew up in Plymouth, MA along with her two brothers, Matthew & Timothy. She attended the Plymouth Public Schools and began Thayer Academy in the 8th grade and graduated in 1993. While at Thayer, Jen was an honor role student and played soccer, lacrosse, and swimming at the varsity level. She was also involved in various extracurricular activities, such as plays, yearbook, Headstart, etc. She was a lifeguard at a camp in Plymouth and even saved a boy from drowning one summer. Jen made many close friends who remember her beautiful smile and ability to touch people.
After graduating from Thayer, Jen went on to Villanova University and earned a degree in accounting in 1997. She became a CPA and went on to work for Marsh & McLennan on the 100th floor of the World Trade Center. Most days, Jen could look out the windows of her north tower office and see Central Park stretching beyond midtown Manhattan's skyline. Some days, the view would simply be lost in the clouds.
One of Jen's co-workers considered her the big sister that he never had, the mentor of all new employees and the person who wasn't afraid to speak up for them with upper management. They often speak of Jennifer's beautiful looks, and that admirers would somehow materialize whenever she was around. If not oblivious, she was certainly unaffected by the attention.
In the aftermath of this terrible tragedy, Jennifer's parents, George and Faye, and two brothers, Matthew and Timothy, established The Jennifer L. Kane Endowed University Scholarship at Villanova University. The University will be pleased to bestow the honor of being a Jennifer L. Kane Endowed University Scholarship recipient to those accomplished students who also possess those qualities Jennifer exemplified that made her a person others cherished knowing. Through this scholarship, Jennifer's legacy will continue in perpetuity and other young women will be able to pursue the dream of a Villanova education and reach their full potential for a bright future.
September 11th was the most horrible and tragic event in history. Jennifer was part of that history and will always be remembered as an American heroine.

I didn't know Jennifer Kane but after 9/11/01 I remember looking thru the names of some of the people that had died on that day. When I saw Jennifer's name and date of birth, it hit me because we were the same age. Born in the same month & year. In 2001 I felt that I was just starting my life, had just gotten married in June, getting a good start on my career. I made a promise to remember her every year and I think of all that she lost on that day and imagine what could have been for her.

I've never met Jennifer, but when I was deployed to Iraq a found a bookmark dedicated to her. That was in Fallujah. It's been with me ever since. I never knew her, but know a Marine remembers her and all others lost that day. Semper Fidelis.

I went to grade school with Jennifer at PCIS in Plymouth, MA. Although she was only a friend of a friend of mine and I did not know her very well, I think of her and her family every Sept. 11th. I can't believe it has been 10 years, but I hope her family has stayed strong and remember her proudly.

I think of Jen and her family every year on this very sad day. I went to Thayer Academy with Jen, and have so many great memories of our friendship. Jen was such a smart, fun, kind girl who always smiled. I had many laughs with her on our way to swimming. I still cannot believe she is gone. I will always remember those good times together!

My thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer's family as the anniversary of that horrible day has visited all of us once again. I didn't know Jennifer very well. We were in the same kindergarden class at Federal Furnace School in Plymouth and later we would run into each other at Blessed Kateri Parish where she worked after school and on weekends and I where I served first as an altar boy and then as a lector. I will always remember that Jennifer was a kind and caring young woman who cared a great deal for her family, friends and the community around her. Today is September 11, 2007. I only recently learned from a friend that Faye (Whitehead) Kane's daughter was a victim of September 11, 2001. I went to school with Faye in Warren, Rhode Island. In seeing this beautiful picture of Jennifer, I am struck at how much she looks like her mother. I haven't seen Faye in many, many years; nor have I ever met her family. At this time, I want to extend to Faye and her family my most sincere condolences for the loss of their beautiful young daughter and sister. There simply is no way to ever understand or accept that day six years ago and the precious lives it destroyed. To the Kane family, I graduated from Villanova with an accounting degree in the Class of '97 with Jennifer. I was not a good friend with your daughter. However, I did have a lot of classes with her and had numerous conversations with her over the years. She was truly kind, gentle-hearted, and lived life fully. As that terrible day unfolded, I began to think of all of my classmates that moved back to New York after graduation. When I learned that Jennifer was one of the fallen, my eyes welled-up with tears and I immediately thought of her family. I have prayed so much for all of you. As each anniversay of that day passes, I always remeber your daughter and feel sorrow. I pray that you are able to cherish all of the wonderful memories you have of Jennifer and that you have family and friends who are a great source of comfort when needed.

Jennifer's picture has been on our refridgerator since her father sent it to us after donating to the endowment. While we did not know her she is our connection to the tragedy and my family prays for her regularly. We will never forget her sacrifice and we will never take her picture down.

Tonight I was doing some geneology research and I stumbled across this page. I was curious to learn more about someone with the same name. I was truly saddened to hear that somone who shared my name was lost in the tragedy on September 11. I read Jennifer's bio and was amazed by our similarities. I went to High School with Jen. I have so many memories of Jen, and can't even begin to tell just one story. Each story has the same ending, 'She was a beautiful girl, with a loving spirit, and a hellava sense of humor:)' I lost touch with her after she went to Villanova... but she was always in my thoughts and she always will be. My heart goes out to her family and friends, because to have known her is to have been touched by her. My name is Chip and I was involved in a Patriot Ride on September 11, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ. All of the participants were given wrist bands with names of the fallen from 9-11. I was given Jennifer to take on a motorcycle ride, along with approx. 6,000 other riders. It was my privilage to have her with me and from now on she will always have a special place with me. I as an American will never forget Jennifer or any of the other fallen as the result of the tragedy on 9-11-01. My name is Robert Johnson. I am a programmer/analyst at the University of California in San Francisco. I did not know Jennifer Kane or anything about her until last night, when I attended a September 11th memorial service at St. Anselm Catholic Church, in Ross, California. The opening procession included a color guard carrying the American flag, followed by a contingent of local members of the police and fire departments. We sang hymns, read scripture and poems and our priest, Fr. Steven, gave a beautiful reflection on remembering. The service to that point was moving enough, but I was not prepared for what followed next. There was a large container of white carnations on the altar, and we were asked to come up and receive one. On each flower was attached the name of a person who had died in the attacks that day. Father Steven, asked us to keep this person in our prayers, and to ask them to pray for us, that our world become a place of peace and of justice for all. I was given a flower with Jennifer's name on it. This personalized connection with the events of September 11th had a profound effect on me, and I have vowed to follow exactly the instructions that were given us. Therefore, Jennifer, please pray to the Father for us, that we may indeed one day have a world at peace, where no one lives in terror of anything - of attack, of war, of famine, of any assault on their innate dignity - but especially where no one lives in terror of the future. Pray, Jennifer, that we never lose hope or the ability to forgive. Pray that we may always believe, as Ann Frank did, that 'despite everything, I still believe in the goodness of people'. I thank you, Jennifer, for your supreme sacrifice that day. I will pray for you and for the eternal repose of your soul. I am certain that God is blessing you. I was at a memorial here in Los Angeles for the victims of the September 11th tragedy when a young gentleman walked in and stood beside me. In his hand, he was holding a bookmark with a picture of Jennifer on it. I saw the website address and felt eager to log on & express my condolences to Jennifer's family and friends. Like so many other Americans, I feel as if I can't do enough to help shoulder some of your pain. My name is Patric and I am David Tengelin's brother. I want to extend my sincere condolences to all of the Kane family for your loss of Jennifer. I met Jen in the summer of 2001. I rode a taxi to the World Trade Center and was met by my brother in the lobby and we took the elavator up to the 100th floor. I met Jen, Carl, Chris, Ramzi, Ana and Dan. They were a happy bunch and I was happy to see my brother work with colleagues, whom were also such good friends. As it was Friday, everyone was going home for the weekend but I was promised that on Thursday the following week we would all go out and have a few drinks, which the CAPSters had made a tradition of. Tony had come back from Italy where he had been on business with Danielle and he joined us as we went to a bar in downtown Manhattan. Jennifer was the only girl and the boys all looked out for her. She had a good sense of humour and was fun to be around. My first impression of Jennifer was that she was an ambitious, attractive young lady, who knew how to carry herself well. I will remember her for a long time to come as I recall that Thursday night when I had the privilege to meet and socialise with my brother's colleagues.
