Dear Betty Boop, Hard to imagine that 20 years have elapsed. I can still see your smile and hear your words of wisdom. I still remember your stories of Allison and Joseph and also your practical advice for a new father. You have made a lasting impression and I will never forget your kindness and warmth.

You were so fine. You've been in my thoughts for all these years now as my personal connection to our national tragedy. Such immaculate grace. What a loss.

Hey Betty, I know you're keeping an eye on us still - and if so I wish I could give you one more hug and see you smile and say 'hey baby' like you would kid with us. Peace. HB

During the past nine years I've thought of Betty, just as I've thought of everyone else who made the mistake of going to work that horrific day. I remember her beautiful smile and pleasant personality. I think of all that she's missed by not being with her loved ones. I truly hope that time has made this easier for her family to bear.

Watching the ceremony on television yesterday morning was, as always, very emotional. Seeing Betty's sister made it more so. Over the past 7 years I've thought about her family and wonder how they are getting along. My heart (still) goes out to them.

It has taken a long time for me to write about my dear friend 'Betty Boop' because I could never find fitting words to describe her. She was such a warm and beautiful person and honest in so many ways. I learned so many valuable lessons from her- having sat next to her for some years. We also traveled together in our daily commute. Betty was always too willing to share her experiences with me (especially since I was a new parent). I miss her radiant smile, her spontaneous laughter and her good advices. She always spoke so passionately about her children and grand children . I still hear her laughter and see her smile. I feel her warmth to this day. She will always remain alive in my thoughts and prayers. Dear Betty, I never told you how I feel about you…but I think you know. Even now I smile because I can still hear your laughter. God Bless you!!

I began working with Betty at J&H; in 1987, I remember her big smile and wonderful sense of humor. She was always trying to help others and she was a friend to all. She is missed today and every day.

The tributes on this board to my mother are wonderful. They really capture the essence of who Virginia aka 'Betty' Fox truly was. I read this site a few times but I was unable to express my thoughts here. Tragically, this was such a public mourning for all of us as a country, I just wanted selfishly to hold on to as much of her as I could. I practically grew up at J&H; and have very fond memories of mother's coworkers and many friends. She was a tough cookie as some would say, but she always put her best foot forward in all that she did, and for those of us that she loved, she accepted nothing less. Her heart was pure gold. She had a real soft spot for those in need and did all she could to help. She did so much for so many people and never asked for anything in return. Mom certainly lived the old saying, 'may the work I've done, speak for me.' We should all be as fortunate to live our lives and know that we truly made an impact. To all of the employees at Marsh who worked with her, my heart goes out to you because I know you have lost just as much as the families have. You worked with them daily, so it is you who spent the most time with them. I pray that you have abundant blessings and we really appreciate all the well wishes and the heartfelt love that you have demonstrated over the years. Know that our thoughts are with you as well, and we are grateful for all that you have done. One day, I'll have the courage to attend one of your fabulous luncheons that you have to honor the victims. Mom's spirit lives on and I'm thankful to God that she's at peace. Forever grateful, Allison Fox-Breland

More than a moment of silence, on this day and everyday may we use our lives to honor and respectfully remember you. With careful consideration we continue on where you could have gone, good left undone, countless gifts not given. We will not fail; we will not forget you, our precious family, our dear friend, our inspiration. Patricia & Charles Barraza

Betty was a warm, personable and inspiring women. She had a terrific spirit and looked especially great for a women of her years. She had a loving sense of humor that would make anyone feel welcomed and a part of. Just shortly before that day she went home with the Lord she had gotten her hair cut into a style that enhanced her outter beauty. She was a gem that is well missed. WTC1 98th Flr. Gwendolyn

MS. BETTY, WAS WONDERFUL PERSON. I MET HER ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. AT THE TIME I WAS DATING HER SON PATRICK. SHE WAS LIKE A SECOND MOTHER TO ME AND SHE HELPED ME SO MUCH. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT SHE DIED AND IT HURT SO MUCH BECAUSE I LOST TOUCH WITH HER AND I NEVER GOT THE CHANCE TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL SHE DID FOR ME. SHE WAS AN ENCOURAGING, SMART, TAKE NO NONSENSE TYPE OF WOMAN AND I ADMIRED HER STRENGTH AND WISDOM. IN MY HEART I KNOW SHE DIED TRYING TO HELP AND SAVE OTHERS. I KNOW THAT GOD HAS PROVIDED A SPECIAL PLACE FOR HER BECAUSE SHE IS WORTHY....RIP MS BETTY....I LOVE YOU

I never met Betty Fox. We were colleagues who spoke a couple of times a month, the last time on the Thursday before that awful Tuesday. She was a person of dignity, and of warmth and she is one of the people who personalizes the tragedy of that terrible day.

I wanted to respond about Betty Fox. Betty's sister who lives in Virginia is a family member of mine. The last year has been very hard on her. She did go back last week to NY and to the Ground Zero site and pay her respects. As I was sharing this site to her today she asked me to print out these comments so that she can keep them with her. Marie her sister said today that being able to go back last week has helped her with some closure on things. We live in a small town outside of Charlottesville VA. You always hear and see the horrible things that happen to our country and our world but never think that it will affect you. This horrible event has hit a small rural town and has done nothing but bring us all closer together. As a young child Betty would be a fixed person in my household growing up with my older sister. Betty will always remain in all of our hearts and know that Heaven has gained a special one. God Bless all of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who remain and have to fill a void of your friends and coworkers on a daily basics. Continue to remain strong and know that this horrible event will make all of us and this country stronger and more loving.

The comments from Dave and Shirley made me smile, not easy to do today. Dave is absolutely right in describing Betty as a bright light shining on all around here. And Shirly is spot on with her observation of Betty's love for young people. I had known Betty since 1983 when I was a trainee in the Property Department. She would always give me this big smile and warm word that would be both reassuring and encouraging. I always felt like she had some unique wisdom and could see the future, like she was a guardian angel. You're right Dave, Betty is in heaven and she's still smiling on us and what a blessing that is! I want her family to know how much we in the firm loved her too.

Betty was not only my colleague...she was my FRIEND. You could always count on Betty to give you a kind word and solid advice. Her love for 'young people' inspired me to be more patient and understanding of others. I truly miss my friend each and every day. May God continue to bless her family.

Betty Boop was my name for Betty Fox. Betty Boop always had a big smile for you and a kind word. She was positive and uplifting. Betty appreciated everyone and everything in her life. She was a hard worker and was very helpful to all her colleagues. Betty put all her effort into everything she did. Betty had the funniest laugh that was so contagious. You could hear her halfway down the floor and start laughing yourself. She was a beautiful person, who definitely went straight to heaven to be with the Lord. I miss her!!
