Marlyn Bautista

Rameses Bautista said the cleaning crew at Marsh & McLennan loved his wife, Marlyn. She was the kind of worker who kept her cubicle and everything around it so neat 'that they didn’t have anything to do,' he said.

Mrs. Bautista, 46, was a born organizer. She worked in the accounts payable department and liked to get there early 'just to get things started' and stay late 'to make sure everything was finished all right,' her husband said. 'That was her style, always making sure everything was in its place.'

When she was a girl, Mrs. Bautista helped sponsor a town festival in Dagupan, in her native Philippines. Mr. Bautista was visiting from another part of the country, saw her, and they became childhood sweethearts, he said. Ten years ago, she became his wife. They moved to Iselin, N.J., and just last year, she received her naturalization papers. When she was not working, Mrs. Bautista enjoyed nature walks. 'She was always amazed by what God could do,' Mr. Bautista said. 'She’s with him now.'

We were all so touched by the tribute Marlyn's sister did for the Marsh & McLennan 10th year memorial yesterday in New York City. I was glad to learn about her and the love of her sister. The spirit of her life shines on. Marlyn, you are missed, rest in peace.

Marlyn was one of the greatest people I have never known. I will never forget her courage, intelligence, dedication and beauty. Whenever I was stressed out about something, whenever things were not going my way, just a glance in her direction would lighten my heart. I will never forget her belief in God's greatness. May she rest in peace forever. My condolences to her wonderful husband. May God be with you.

Last year I was asked to speak about friends that I lost on September 11th. Among the three that I wiall alway remember is Marlyn Bautista. Here's what I said: Helpful, Cheerful, Wife, Friend Marlyn always helped me when I had a crisis expense report to turn in. I never heard a negative word from her all the time I knew her. I still think of her and miss her.

When I first started working at Marsh, Marlyn helped me with my bosses expense reports as I had no clue as to the process. She was so smart. She would giggle when I would ask a silly question. We became friends, we would walk to Penn Station together at night, she going to Jersey and me to Long Island. Marlyn was a kind, gentle, loving person and her smile would light up a room. She is on my mind and in my prayers often. God bless her family. Ronnie

Although I did not deal with Marlyn on a regular basis, every time I would see her, she was smiling. I never heard her say a bad thing about anyone. She made your day brighter just by looking at her smile. You never realize how much someone touches your life, until they are no longer in it. I'll never forget her smile.

I remember Marlyn always with a smile on her face. Nothing seemed to ever change that smile. She was such a sweet lady. Whenever I brought my T&E; report to her for processing, she made sure to process it right away. She was very kind and is greatly missed.
